PHILADELPHIA – The women's swimming & diving team picked up its first win of the 2011-12 season by defeating Drexel, 178-114, on Saturday afternoon.
The women dominated nearly every event, especially the distance swims, and several freshmen picked up their first collegiate victories.
Sophomore
Greta Reichert and freshman
Colleen Larkin went 1-2 in the 1000-free and then reversed their finish order in the 500-free.
Freshman
Amina Wilson registered two first-place finishes (100-back in 59.61 and 200-back in 2:09.11) and one second place finish (200 IM in 2:15.07).
Liz Jordan finished the 200-free in 1:57.71 and 100-free in 53.99, each good for first.
Junior
Jessica Simunek also had two first-place finishes in the 100-breast (1:08.84) and 200-breast (2:29.14).
The Explorers finished behind Drexel in both the 200-medley and 400-free relays.
In the diving competitions, senior
Laurie McLaughlin and sophomore
Shauna Hannings each placed first and second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
The Explorers will have some time off before they travel for a dual meet against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne on November 5.
