Box Score BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham got on the board in the seventh minute and exploded for three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 decision over the La Salle men's soccer team in the Bronx on Friday night. The loss drops the Explorers to 5-7-4 overall (3-1-3 Atlantic 10) while the Rams improve to 9-6-1 (5-2-0 Atlantic 10).
John Niyonsaba got the home team on the board early with an unassisted tally in the seventh minute. The Rams added three more in the second half as Tim Richardson scored in the 54th minute, and Aaron Markowitz added two goals five minutes apart in the 72nd and 77th minutes.
The Explorers were limited to just five shots in the game, only one of which was on goal. The Rams took 12 shots, 10 of which were on point.
The game was a matchup of the top two goalkeepers in the Atlantic 10.
John McCarthy, the nation's leader in total saves and saves per game, stopped six shots. Fordham's Ryan Meara made one stop.
The Explorers return to action next Friday (11/4) when they head to Temple for a 2:30 PM contest in Ambler. They wrap up the regular season on Sunday (11/6) at Saint Joseph's at 1:00 PM.
