PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle indoor track team has released its schedule for the 2011-12 season, announced by head coach Dan Ireland earlier this week.
“We are excited to make the transition from the fall to winter seasons,” said head coach Dan Ireland. “The grind of the cross country and track seasons can be difficult but we have a solid schedule of meets planned that will test our athletes against some of the top competition in the region.”
The Explorers will kick off the schedule at the Villanova invitational held in Haverford, Pa, on December 2nd. After their first meet of the year, the Explorers will have just over a month to prepare for the Georgetown Invitational held on January 20th.
On February 4th, the Explorers will travel to Kingston, RI for the Charles Torpey Invitational. The invitational will be held in honor of the Explorers late head track and field coach.
About two weeks later, the Explorers will head back to Kingston, RI for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship. The men will look to take the conference title from host Rhode Island. The women will look to take the crown from Dayton.
If the Explorers qualify for the IC4A/ECAC Championships, they would head to Boston on March 3rd and 4th. The NCAA Championships will take place in Boise, ID on March 9th and 10th.
In total, La Salle will compete in at least nine meets during the indoor season with the potential for more depending on if the Explorers qualify for the IC4A/ECAC or the NCAA Championships.
