Track And Field Starts Outdoor Season At Penn Challenge Meet

Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle track & field teams opened their outdoor seasons Saturday at Franklin Field, competing in the Penn Challenge hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

On the men's side, the Explorers saw a strong showing in the 1500-meter run. Sophomore Dylan Stoneman led the way with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 3:56.89. He was followed by junior Malthe Bogebjerg, who secured eighth place with a personal best time of 4:00.09. For the 800-meter run, three La Salle athletes placed in the top five, with sophomore Callum Murray winning the event (time of 1:54.67), and sophomore Ricky Lee (1:56.22) and freshman Jacob Gardner (1:56.42) going fourth and fifth. In the sprints, freshman Jonathan Schuck paced the Explorers in the 200-meter dash, taking fourth place with a time of 22.89, while freshman Caleb Johnson was third in the 400m hurdles (55.95).

The women's team was highlighted by a podium performance from sophomore Havanna Gordon, who grabbed third place in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 59.24. Sophomore Adaugo Ilonze placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.39, while senior Lexy Rivard and freshman Beca Bown went 2-3 in the 800-meter run (times of 2:12.39 and 2:16.81, respectively). In the 1500-meter race, sophomore Gillian Lovett placed eighth (4:33.52), a new personal best.

In the field events, freshman Felicia Morris jumped 10.94 meters in the triple jump to earn second.

La Salle track & field returns to action next weekend in the Raleigh Relays, a three-day meet that starts Thursday.
