Track Teams Take Part In 130th Edition Of Penn Relays, With Women's 4x100 Victorious

Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle track teams raced in the 130th edition of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field this past weekend, which were the teams' final meet before the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.

On Day 1, freshman Seán Cronin placed second overall in the college 1500-meter final, just .04 seconds off the winning time of 3:40.85. Freshman Jacob Gardner was second in his heat and eighth overall in the 3k steeple championship, finishing in 8:48.92. Junior Gwenno Goode was sixth in the women's 3k steeple final (time of 10:06.33), while senior Neve Moulai crossed the line in 16:51.75 in the 5k championship. To conclude the night, junior Helene Usher was 12th in the 10k final with a result of 35:08.75.

Day 2 was focused on the Explorer sprinters. The women's 4x100-meter relay team (comprised of freshman Carleen Lionel and sophomores Marionna Logan, Jorden Gore, and Adaugo Ilonze) placed sixth in the event with a program record time of 46.68 to qualify for the final on Saturday (Day 3). In the men's version, the all-freshmen squad of Jordan Grady, Jonathan Schuck, Ryan Stankiewicz, and Kenji Samuel placed 16th in the event (43.81). On the final day, the women's 4x100 team won their event for the second straight year, clinching it with a time of 47.01.

La Salle track & field will enter playoff-mode as it enters prep for the A-10 Championship meet, which starts next Saturday at 2:30 pm.
