PHILADELPHIA
- After back-to-back road contests, the La Salle women's basketball team returns to friendly turf as the Explorers host #15/15 Rutgers at 7 pm. on Saturday as part of a Homecoming Weekend doubleheader with the men's basketball squad.

Saturday marks the first meeting of La Salle and Rutgers since Dec. 30, 1983. They have met a total of five times, with the Scarlet Knights holding a 3-2 edge in the series.

Saturday's contest is the second of back-to-back BIG EAST opponents for the Explorers, as they traveled to St. John's this past Wednesday. It is also the second of four games against the BIG EAST, as the team travels to West Virginia on Nov. 30 and hosts Villanova on Dec. 4.

Scouting La Salle...
After rolling past Lehigh, 63-43, in their season opener, the Explorers dropped a tough 81-76 decision at Albany on Sunday despite four players netting double figures. Brittany Wilson led the quartet with 17 points, Jada Payne and Jordan Mosley added 16, and Nadia Duncan chipped in 10. The Explorers also played at St. John's on Wednesday night but the Red Storm - who were ranked in the national polls last week - used an early 19-0 run to put the game out of reach. Alexis Scott led the squad with 17 points.
 
Jada Payne - who is the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week - leads the squad in scoring with 12.7 ppg and adds in a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game. She earned A-10 honors after averaging 15.5 points in her collegiate debut weekend. Brittany Wilson is also adding double figure scoring, averaging 10.7 ppg along with 4.7 rpg, and as dished out a team-high eight assists and snagged a team-high six steals. Rookie Ruvanna Campbell has already amassed eight blocks in three games to lead the squad defensively.
 
Scouting Rutgers...
#15/15 Rutgers comes in to tonight's contest with a 2-0 record, after narrowly defeating Cal 73-70 in the season opener and leading wire-to-wire in a 74-58 rout of Boston College. Monique Oliver and Betnijah Laney poured in a game-high 18 points apiece and two others were in double figures to open the season at Cal. She followed up with her third career double-double in the Scarlet Knights' rout of Boston College, scoring 15 points and pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Oliver leads a quartet of players averaging double figures, as she averaged 16.5 points in the first two contests. Laney adds 13.5 ppg, April Sykes averages 10.5 and Khadijah Rushdan has chipped in 10.0. Oliver also pulls down a team-best 9.5 rebounds per game.
 
Rutgers also recently announced the signing of four Top-100 prospects for the 2012-13 season.
