PHILADELPHIA – La Salle will look to hand nationally-ranked Pittsburgh its second straight loss at the Pedersen Events Center in a 7 PM tip-off. The game will be broadcast online by ESPN3.com. The Panthers had won 58 straight non-conference home games before falling to Long Beach State, 86-76, on Wednesday.

Scouting the Explorers (2-1)
La Salle's three guards continued to power the offense and freshman Jerrell Wright posted his first double-double as the Explorers beat James Madison, 92-83, on Saturday in the University's homecoming.

Sophomore Tyreek Duren continued his outstanding start to the season with 23 points on Saturday and is now averaging 21.7 ppg. Duren also has a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio and is shooting 57.5 pct. from the field.

Sophomore Sam Mills had 18 points on Saturday to increase his scoring average to 15.7 ppg. He is shooting 8-for-12 from three-point range to help the Explorers' impressive 45% shooting from behind the arc through three games. Mills has only committed two turnovers in 107 minutes.

Senior Earl Pettis continues to be a steadying veteran influence and chips in with 14.3 ppg. and is second on the team in rebounding at 6.3.

In the front court, senior Devon White and Wright have been solid. White is averaging 7.7 ppg. and 7.7 rpg, while Wright has provided 8.0 ppg. and 5.7 rpg. in just 15.3 minutes per game.

As a team, the Blue and Gold have been taking care of the ball and average just over 10 turnovers per game.

Dr. John GIannini picked up his 100th win at La Salle on Saturday and has 397 for his career.

Scouting Pittsburgh (2-1)

Pitt is led by one of the top guards in the nation, Aston Gibbs. The preseason Big East Player of the Year averages 21.7 ppg. and has connected on 13 three-pointers this season. Tray Woodall (19.7 ppg., 12 three's) and Chester native Nasir Robinson (16.3 ppg.) also pace an offense that is averaging 83.7 ppg.

The Panthers are shooting 44.7% from three-point range and hold a +11.0 advantage on the boards.

This will be the third straight home game for Pitt, which defeated Albany (89-56) and Rider (86-78) before falling to Long Beach.

Head coach Jamie Dixon is in his ninth year at Pitt and is 216-60 overall.

Last season, the Panthers were the #1 seed in the Washington, D.C. region before falling to eventual national runner-up Butler, in the second round.
