PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers will open a two-game homestand by welcoming Northeastern to Tom Gola Arena for a Wednesday evening contest.
Scouting the Explorers (3-3)
La Salle is coming off a 2-2 showing at the Philly Hoop Group Classic, which included wins over James Madison and Rider.
Sophomores
Tyreek Duren and
Sam Mills lead the Explorers this season with 14.5 points per game. Junior
Ramon Galloway and senior
Earl Pettis round out the Explorers' double-figure scorers, with 13.5 and 11.5 points per game, respectively.
Duren has a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio, while Mills shoots .500 from beyond the arc.
Senior
Devon White and freshman
Jerrell Wright have been La Salle's leading rebounders, with 5.7 and 5.5 per game, respectively.
The defensive-minded Explorers have forced opponents into an average of 15 turnovers per game this season.
Scouting Northeastern (3-1)
The Huskies picked up their third win in four games as they defeated St. John's, 78-64, on Saturday evening in New York. Junior Joel Smith led Northeastern with a career-high 29 points.
Smith is the team's scoring leader with 17.3 points per game, to go along with a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game. Classmate Jonathan Lee adds 16.8 points per game to form a dual-scoring threat.
Northeastern is shooting .439 from the field as a team. The Huskies have held opponents to .281 three-point shooting.
Senior forward Kashief Edwards hails from Philadelphia and attended Imhotep Charter School, which is less located than a mile from La Salle.

The Explorers have faced Northeastern only twice in program history, both times during regular-season tournament play on neutral courts. The teams split the pair of games.
