DAYTON, Oh. - After a long day travel, the La Salle women's soccer team finally arrived in Dayton to find fourth-seeded UMass on the winning end of a 3-1 scoreline against fifth-seeded St. Bonaventure. A couple of hours later, the host team and third-seeded Dayton took care of business against sixth-seeded Charlotte.
What that means for Explorer fans is a rematch of an epic battle back on October 16 in Friday's semifinal. On a chilly Sunday afternoon in Amherst, La Salle knocked off UMass 3-2 on a
Renee Washington header six minutes into overtime. The Explorers will be in search of a similar result on Friday in order keep a magical undefeated season alive and clinch a berth in the program's first ever Atlantic 10 Final.
All-time, the Minutewomen are 7-9 against the Explorers on the women's soccer pitch with La Salle victorious in the last six matchups dating back to the 2006 season.
The series began in 1996 with UMass winning the first six games. La Salle finally broke through in 2002 with a 1-0 victory in overtime.
Opening kick between La Salle and UMass is set for 5 p.m. from Bajuan Field. Live video and gametracker will be available on
