NEWARK, Del. - Delaware outscored La Salle by 10 points in the second half and defeated the Explorers, 70-66, on Wednesday at the Bob Carpenter Center. The defeat snapped a five-game winning streak for the Blue and Gold.

Devon White came off the bench to lead the visitors with 15 points, 11 in the second half. Four other Explorers scored in double-figures including senior
Earl Pettis (12 points), freshman
Jerrell Wright (11), junior
Ramon Galloway (11 points, game-high eight rebounds), and
Sam Mills (11).
Delaware came into the game allowing opponents to shoot 31.1% from long distance, while La Salle (7-4) was the nation's 12
th best team in three-point percentage at .421. UD's perimeter defense won this battle as the Explorers made 2-of-16 on the evening.
UD's Devon Sadler led all scorers with 18, three shy of his average that ranks him 11
th in the nation. He also had 10 rebounds. Jamelle Hagins scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his sixth straight double-double.
The Blue and Gold led by double-digits on four different occasions in the first half, including as many as 11 at 29-18 with 4:44 to play. The Blue Hens (5-4) cut it to 33-27 at the intermission.
Delaware tied the game twice early in the second half but didn't take its first lead until a Saddler three made it 49-47 with 12:40 to play. Over the next eight minutes there would be six ties and one lead change with UD clinging to a small advantage.
White tied the score at 60-60 on his jumper with 6:58 remaining, but neither team would score for three minutes before Delaware's Kyle Anderson scored five straight points to give UD a 65-60 cushion with 3:16 to go.
A jumper by sophomore
Tyreek Duren and a three by Mills made it 67-65 with 1:23 to play. Mills made 1-of-2 from the line to cut it to a one-point deficit with 46 seconds left.
After a Blue Hen turnover, Duren drove the lane with 21 seconds remaining but had the ball knocked loose and Delaware made three free throws to seal the 70-66 victory.
La Salle is back in action on Thursday at 7 PM at Central Connecticut State.
Notes: Mills has made a three-pointer in 11 straight games…The Explorers are now 6-2 with Galloway in the lineup…The 70 points were the most surrendered by La Salle since giving up 73 at Pitt on November 22…La Salle held the opponents leading scorer under his average for the seventh time in eight games.
