PHILADELPHIA – Head coach Dr. John Giannini will be going for his 400th career win as the Explorers welcome Bucknell to Tom Gola Arena for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Saturday.

To celebrate the Explorer's birthday, all children under 12 will get in free. La Salle will also honor its three A-10 Championship teams (men's and women's cross country, and women's soccer), as well as its conference-leading four A-10 Coaches of the Year (Michelle Marks, Dan Ireland (twice) and Paul Royal).

Scouting the Explorers (4-3)
A renewed emphasis on defense this season paid off for La Salle as it defeated Northeastern, 68-51, on Wednesday evening.

La Salle held Northeastern's biggest scoring threat, Joel Smith, who was averaging over 17 points a game, to just two points.

Once the offense got started in the second half, thanks to a 12-0 run and seven-for-eight shooting from beyond the arc, the Explorers locked up the victory.  Senior Earl Pettis led all scorers with 15 points.

On the season, sophomore Tyreek Duren paces La Salle with 14.3 points and 5 assists per game.  Freshman Jerrell Wright adds 5.4 rebounds per game.

The Explorers have won five straight home games, dating back to last season.

Scouting the Bison (5-3)
The Bison return nearly all the members of the 2010-11 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, earning a No. 14 seed.  The Bison fell to eventual National Champion Connecticut in the opening round.

Bucknell is coming off a tight 61-57 road loss to George Mason.  Sophomore Cameron Ayers, who attended nearby Germantown Academy and is the son of former NBA coach Randy Ayers, netted a career-high 23 points in the defeat.

The Explorers will have to contend with a physical big man, 6-foot-11 junior center Mike Muscala, who has a team-leading 9.3 rebounds and 13.4 points per game.

Along with Ayers and Muscala, two other Bison average double figures in scoring.

The Bison are only 1-3 on the road this season.  They shoot .453 from the field as a team.

The series
La Salle leads the all-time series 17-5, and is 11-1 all-time at home.

Next up
The Explorers will travel to play Towson on Wednesday.
