La Salle Looks For Fourth Straight Win At Towson On Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle will look for its fourth straight victory on Wednesday night when it travels to Towson for a 7 PM tip-off. The Explorers are coming off an impressive 78-52 victory over Bucknell on Saturday behind junior Ramon Galloway's 20 points.

Scouting the Explorers (5-3)
The Blue and Gold put together another outstanding defensive performance on Saturday, holding the opposition to 52 points or less for the third time in four games. La Salle has allowed 56.3 ppg. in its last four contests, the best four-game defensive stretch since opening the 2005-06 season with four wins at an average of 54.8 ppg.

Galloway has averaged 18.3 ppg. in his last three contests and the Explorers are 4-1 with him in the lineup. He was named to the Atlantic 10 and Big 5 Honor Roll for his effort.

La Salle is a markedly better defensive team from a year ago. Opponents points per game has dropped from  78.6 to 63.6, opponents field goal percentage has dropped from .449 to .377 and opponents three-point percentage has fallen from .357 to .318.
 
The Explorers have also taken care of the ball, averaging just 11.8 turnovers per game, which is third in the A-10 and 23rd nationally.
 
Senior Earl Pettis leads the team in scoring (14.3 ppg.), followed by sophomore Tyreek Duren (13.9), Galloway (13.6) and sophomore Sam Mills (12.3).
 
Scouting the Tigers (0-7)
Towson has started the season 0-7, but has played the 11th toughest schedule in the nation according to the Pomeroy Ratings. The Tigers has played five teams either ranked or receiving votes in the national polls in its seven games.

First-year head coach Pat Skerry's team suffered a 65-53 loss to George Mason on Saturday despite Marcus Damas' 25 points. He leads the team in scoring at 12.4 ppg. followed by Robert Nwanko at 11.3 ppg.

Towson averages 22.1 turnovers per game and averages 51.0 ppg.

The series
The series is tied at 1-1 all-time and this is the first game at Towson. La Salle is 63-14 all-time versus CAA schools.
