AUCTION ITEM OF THE WEEK: Golf Outings at Local Venues

The recent host of the 2011 AT&T National for the second year in a row, Aronimink Golf Club is home to one of the most celebrated golf courses in the world.  Designed by Donald Ross, this course has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments.  Donated by Paul Coady '77, this threesome sold for just $550 in 2010.  Visit Aronimink's website at www.aronimink.org

Located in Montgomery County near the Lansdale exit of the turnpike, Mainland Golf Course appeals to golfers of all ability levels.  Donated by Dennis Reid '70, this outing sold for just $140 last year!  Visit Mainland's website at www.mainlandgolf.com.  

A new addition to this year's auction, a foursome at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links in Egg Harbor Township offers a unique Irish-Scottish golfing experience. Designed by architect Stephen Kay, this challenging course is sure to test golfers with conditions similar to the British Isles. Visit McCullough's website at www.mcculloughsgolf.com.

Scheduled to host the 2013 U.S. Open, Merion Golf Club is one of the most renowned courses in the world and has played host to more USGA Championships than any course in America. Donated by Dixon Gillis, this threesome went for just $1,350 last year. Visit Merion's website at www.meriongolfclub.com

Located in Spring House, PA, Old York Road Country Club provides an enjoyable round of golf with beautiful landscaping and a combination of sand and water hazards.  Donated by Joe Cloran '61, this threesome sold for only $175 in 2010. Visit Old York Road's website at www.oyrcc.com.

Another new addition to the auction, Stone Harbor Golf Club boasts one of the finest courses on the Eastern Seaboard.  Designed by Desmond Muirhead, Stone Harbor offers a challenging course with beautiful aesthetics.  Richard Predergast '60 donated this foursome.  Visit Stone Harbor's website at www.stoneharborgolf.com.
