WEST POINT, N.Y.
- Jason Plumhoff headed in the game's only goal as the La Salle men's soccer team got the 1-0 win over Army in a late-night Saturday game at West Point.

Plumhoff broke the scoreless game at the 85:04 mark when he took a nice cross from Jidell Roach and found the back of the net for the game winner and his second goal of the season. The Explorers blocked two Army shots and another sailed high to lock up the final score.

Both teams got off to a slow start offensively, with the first shot of the game not coming until the ninth minute. There were just eight combined shots in the first half between the two squads. The Explorers withstood four consecutive shots by the Black Knights to open the second half and had a few chances of their own around the middle of the second stanza as they peppered three shots in a two-minute span on the hosts.

Army (2-5) outshot the Explorers (1-5) by a 2-to-1 margin (16-8), but only managed two shots on goal. The Black Knights also owned an 8-2 corner kick advantage, but were whistled for 14 fouls to the Explorers' nine.

John McCarthy picked up the save in goal, stopping two shots. John Marinelli took the loss, recording three saves.

The Explorers return home on Tuesday (9/20) when they host Lehigh at 7:00 PM.
