Auction a Hit! Second Chance Items Now Available

PHILADELPHIA- The 2011 Explorer Club Auction and Reception took place in Tom Gola Arena on Saturday, September 17 attracting more than 250 guests. Auction items ranged from Philadelphia sports tickets, authentic La Salle gear, golf packages, exotic vacation packages, and sports memorabilia. Scott Schaffer, '85, anchor of WNEP's Newswatch 16 in Scranton, was this year's Master of Ceremonies for the event that featured complimentary food and beverages, a bucket raffle, a silent auction, and a live auction.
Prior to the live auction, La Salle President Brother Michael McGinniss '70, Explorer Club President Dennis Reid '70, and auction co-chair Wade Brosius '88 addressed the crowd thanking them for their support of La Salle Athletics.

Members of the Sigma Phi Lambda fraternity were honored for their leadership and philanthropy towards the Dennis Regan '83, a Vespoli-4 shell used by members of the men's and women's varsity crew teams. Dennis Regan was a crew member on the 1983 Dad Vail Championship team and a brother of Sigma Phi Lambda who passed away last year.

Auction items featured a one week stay anywhere in the world, Hall of Fame Phillies tickets, a trip to Napa Valley, a Lionell Simmons Autographed Jersey and Shorts, and a Threesome at Merion Golf Course.

Remote bidding was once again an option for those who were unable to attend the event. Remote bidders had a wide variety of options to submit their bids via email, instant messenger, or a live chat room.
