EMMITSBURG, Md. - Zoncher Dennis scored four straight goals including three in the first half, as Mount St. Mary's topped the La Salle men's soccer team 5-0 in Emmitsburg, Md., on Saturday afternoon.

Dennis was the name of the game, scoring his first goal in the 12th minute, an unassisted shot. He scored again less than five minutes later on a pass from Jimmy Ockford, and took a long shot that found the back of the net. He added another unassisted shot in the 36th minute to put the home team up 3-0 at the break.

Dennis added his fourth in the 51st minute when Kyle Patrick found him down the right side of the field, and knocked home the goal. Matthew Steele rounded out the scoring in the 74th minute on an assist from Ian Hendrie.

The Explorers had a number of chances as they managed 11 shots to the Mountaineers' 15, however only two were on goal. The Explorers were also awarded seven corner kicks to the Mountaineers' one.

John McCarthy (Cinnaminson, N.J./Northeast Catholic) made two saves. Jim Clark (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) came on in relief with just under 13 minutes remaining in the game and did not need to make any saves. Peter Steve stopped two shots while picking up the win for the Mountaineers (3-3-1).

The Explorers (1-6-1) return to action on Tuesday (9/27) when they host UMBC at 7:00 PM in the team's final non-conference game of the season.
