Box Score
PHILADELHPIA – 10 games, 10 shutouts for the La Salle women's soccer team. The Explorers finished up the month of September with a perfect 8-0 record with a dominating 5-0 victory over Temple on a soggy Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.
The victory marks the 10th straight clean sheet for the Explorers (9-0-1) who are the only team in Division I that has yet to allow a goal in 2011.
“It was great to see some of our older kids get on the board tonight,” said head coach
Paul Royal. “Everyone seemed to have a great night even though it got kind of sloppy in the end, I'm happy we didn't let up in the second half.”
Freshman
Kelsey Haycook scored both of the La Salle goals in the first half with assists by seniors
Kierstyn Mabey and
Dani Allizzo.
In the second half, Haycook struck again early to cap off her hat trick. The rookie leads La Salle with nine goals this season.
Redshirt senior
Morgan Golden got into the scoring column with a goal in the 63rd minute off a
Jourdan McVicker assist. The goal by Golden and the assist from McVicker were the of the season for both.
The final goal for the Explorers came just one minute later when
Renee Washington tallied her fifth of the season.
Five goals are the most for the Explorers since a 5-0 defeat of Canisius on August 22 of last season.
Maryam Huseini recorded the first two assists of her career with two helpers in the match and
Melissa Sanger needed just two saves to preserve her 10th shutout of the season as she continues to add to her ever-growing school record.
La Salle will now turn their sights to a Sunday afternoon match up against Saint Joseph's. Opening kick is set for 1 p.m. from McCarthy Stadium.
