PHILADELPHIA – Coming off a hard fought victory over NJIT on Tuesday, La Salle volleyball travels north this weekend for an Atlantic 10 set vs. Rhode Island and Fordham.

Scouting the Explorers

La Salle's five seniors collectively played their finest match of the year in the victory on Tuesday, combining for 42 kills, 73 digs, and 5.5 blocks in the contest. The non-conference tilt was the last of its kind this season, as the Explorers finish up the year with seven A-10 matches the rest of the way.

Samantha Tulskie continues to do it all for La Salle, ranking second on the team in kills (227) and digs (362). Kelly Scanlon leads the Explorer offensive attack with 253 kills (.171), highlighted by a team-high 18 over the Highlanders on Tuesday. Breanna Mazalewski entered the week sixth in the A-10 in digs/set (4.20) and tallied 23 the other night.

La Salle hosted Rhode Island and Fordham in a weekend set last month, dropping both. In a 3-0 loss to Rhode Island, Kelly Scanlon was the lone Explorer to record double digit kills (10, .148) while Breanna Mazalewski led the team with 14 digs. Samantha Tulskie registered a double-double (14 kills, 14 digs) in a 3-1 loss to Fordham that same weekend.

The Rams have dropped five of its last six, most recently falling to Dayton and Xavier on the road last weekend. Sophomore OH Catie Steffen and junior OH Britta Baarstad both recorded double-digit kill performances in the Rams' victory over La Salle last month. Freshman OH Cate Seman ranks ninth in the A-10 in service aces/set (0.29).

The Rams dropped two last weekend at the hands of Dayton and Xavier after winning its previous three, including victories over Charlotte and VCU. Junior OH Lisa Hipp ranks sixth in the A-10 with 3.36 kills/set and tallied 13 last time out vs. La Salle. Senior S Sara Konkel ranks tenth in the conference with 8.69 assists/set and tallied 44 against the Explorers in September. As a team, Fordham ranks fifth in the A-10 in service aces/set (1.31) and sixth in blocks/set (1.91).

La Salle returns home to Tom Gola Arena for the final time this season in an A-10 doubleheader vs. Charlotte (10/27, 7 p.m.) and VCU (10/28, 4:30 p.m.). The match vs. VCU will contain senior day festivities.
