NEWARK, Del. – The men's swim and dive team lost to both Delaware and Rider today, 195.5-104.5 and 150.5-147.5, respectively. The dual between Rider and La Salle came down to the final event of the day, the 400 yard freestyle relay. Rider finished ahead of La Salle by less than half a second, enough to make the difference in the meet.
Freshman
Johan Roth clinched first in the 100 and 200 yard breaststrokes, winning the 100 in 59.32 and the 200 in 2:09.51. Roth remains undefeated in the breaststroke distances this season.
Senior
Blase Szyszko picked up a pair of second place finishes behind Roth, clocking in a 59.64 in the 100 yard breaststroke and a 2:10.71 in the 200 yard breaststroke.
Sophomore
Stefan Sharpe was victorious in a tightly contested battle for the 1000 yard freestyle. Sharpe split a blistering 25.45 on the final 50 yards of the race to secure the win by less than one second. His time of 9:45.40 is the best for La Salle this season.
Freshman
Jonathan Cabral earned a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.85. Cabral also notched a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 47.68.
The Explorers are back in the pool this Friday November 16 when they travel to Lewisburg, PA for the Bucknell Invitational.
