Day 1 Results
LEWISBURG, PA – The women's swim and dive squad got off to a hot start at the Bucknell Invitational, collecting four first place finishes out of six events on the first night of competition. With a point total of 373.5, they currently sit in third place behind Delaware (405) and Bucknell (388).
The women claimed both the 200 yard freestyle and 400 yard medley relays. The relay of
Katie Snee, Liz Jordan,
Lianne McCluskey, and
Chelsey Curran won the first event of the evening, the 200 yard freestyle relay, in a time of 1:35.46. Jordan and Snee were then joined by
Amina Wilson and
Jessica Simunek for the 400 yard medley relay which they won in a time of 3:49.82, good enough for a three second margin of victory.
In addition to her two relay wins, Jordan earned a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle, clocking in a time of 23.40. Teammate
Katie Snee finished in third place in a time of 23.88.
Sophomore
Colleen Larkin crushed the field in the 500 yard freestyle, taking first place in a time of 4:54.46, over two seconds faster than her performance at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship last February. She defeated the field tonight by nearly five seconds.
On the 3 meter board, sophomore
Paige Frishkorn earned a seventh place finish with a score of 229.55.
The Explorers begin tomorrow's morning preliminary events at 10:00 AM and finals begin at 6:00 PM.
