Men's Basketball Hits The Road To Take On Hartford On Tuesday


WEST HARTFORD, CONN. – The La Salle men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season when it visits Hartford on Tuesday at 7 PM.

Last Time Out
Central Connecticut State got off to an early lead and handed La Salle just its fourth home loss in the past 21 games on Sunday with an 81-74 Blue Devil victory. Sophomore Jerrell Wright led the hosts with 18 points while Sam Mills added 16 on four three-pointers.

All-Time Series
The Explorers own a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series, winning both games on the road. La Salle is 17-5 all-time in games played in the state of Connecticut and is 21-4 versus current members of the America East.
 
Last Meeting
The La Salle men's basketball team continued its win- ning streak at Tom Gola Arena by defeating Hartford, 73-55, on or their ninth straight victory at home on December 31, 2011. The win adds on to La Salle's record-set- ting string of victories at Gola, dating back to last season. La Salle broke the record of seven, set during the 2006-07 season, during its last con- test against Boston University and has won nine straight in the build- ing. Junior Ramon Galloway and sophomore Tyreek Duren each added a game-leading 19 points. Freshman Jerrell Wright added a game-high 11 rebounds.

Homecoming
Redshirt freshman Rohan Brown is a Hartford native (East Catholic) and will be playing his first game back in his hometown.

Familiar Faces
Hartford head coach John Gallagher coached five seasons (1999-03) at La Salle under Speedy Morris and Billy Hahn. His sister Ann played women's basketball at La Salle from 1993-97 and is third all- time in assists. Hartford assistant Bill Dooley spent one season as an assistant at La Salle (2003-04) and was the head coach at Delaware Valley College, Germantown Friends and Chestnut Hill Academy all in or Philadelphia.

Scouting the Hawks
Hartford improved to 1-2 this season with a 62-47 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday. Wes Cole had 14 points off the bench. Mark Nwakamma leads the team in scoring with 15.0 ppg. followed by Yolonzo Moore (11.0). The Hawks previously lost to Quinnipiac (65-61) and Mount St. Mary's (70-63).

La Salle is back at home for the first Big 5 game of the season when it hosts Villanova on Sunday at 1 PM. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
