The Match-Up
The Explorers and Mountain Hawks will meet for the fifth straight year after renewing their series on the hardwood in 2008-09. Lehigh has taken three of the four contests so far, but it was La Salle that won by a 20-point margin in last year's meeting in the season opener for both teams.
Jada Payne scored 15 for the Explorers in last year's contest and current sophomore
Jordan Mosley added 12 in her collegiate debut.
Alexis Scott and current junior
Jess Koci pulled down eight rebounds apiece to lead the Explorer defense that held the Mountain Hawks to 22.2 percent shooting.
La Salle owns a 9-4 all-time record in the series, which dates back to a 104-59 Explorer win in Feb. 1977.
Scouting the Explorers
La Salle looks to continue its momentum following a strong game against a very good Drexel team on Thursday night. The Explorers led 26-20 at the half and had the opportunity for the game-tying buzzer beater before dropping a 56-53 heartbreaker.
Brittany Wilson poured in 20+ points for the third straight game, netting a game-high 26 points behind a 9-for-11 showing at the free throw line and 8-for-14 from the floor. She currently leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 22.7 ppg through the first 10 days of the season which is a +3.4 ppg margin over the league's second-leading scorer (Daress McClung, Butler). Wilson also averages a team-best 5.7 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per contest, while blocking a team-high-tying four shots so far.
Jordan Mosley is also adding 10.0 points per game after her second double-digit scoring effort of the year on Thursday night. She also chips in 3.7 rebounds per game.
Rookie
Karynda DuPree has started each game so far early in her collegiate career. She has been a contributor on the defensive side of the ball, tying for the team lead with Wilson with four blocked shots on the season and chipping in 3.7 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Mountain Hawks
Lehigh is coming off of its first win of the season, a 62-60 decision at Saint Peter's. Junior Lindsay Hoskins scored a career-high 17 points and added eight rebounds in the Mountain Hawks' effort. Sophomore Sarah Williams chipped in 10 points. The squad opened its season at No. 13/15 Cal, falling 80-48 but seeing a double-double (18 pts., 11 reb.) from freshman Kerry Kinek. Kinek added 13 boards at Saint Peter's.
The squad has struggled with turnovers and looks to limit its miscues after recording 27 against the Peahens and 19 against the Bears.
Through two games, Kinek is averaging a double-double of 11.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Hoskins is second in both categories with 9.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg.
