GENEVA, OH – The men's swim and dive squad dropped both meets against St. Bonaventure and Xavier with scores of 192.5-139.5 and 164-158, respectively. The dual between the Explorers and Xavier came down to the last relay in which Xavier edged La Salle for the win.
Freshman
Johan Roth was the lone event winner for the Explorers, winning two of his three individual races. His first win came in the 100 yard breaststroke where the South African clocked in a blistering 57.99, the first athlete in the Atlantic 10 Conference to break the 58-second mark in the event this season. In the 200 yard breaststroke, Roth left the field in his wake, touching the wall in 2:07.04 to win by over three seconds. Roth's final event was the 200 yard individual medley where he suffered his first loss of his collegiate career. After about ten minutes of rest from the 200 breaststroke, Roth posted a 1:57.40 to place second by a mere two-tenths of a second. Roth remains undefeated in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events.
Junior
Cameron Cabrera took second place in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:42.69. He also picked up a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:44.69. Both times are the fastest for La Salle this season.
Senior
Blase Szyszko notched a second place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:10.75.
The men's swim and dive team is back in action this Saturday November 10 when they travel to Newark, Del. to take on the University of Delaware and Rider.
