LEWISBURG, Pa. - The La Salle men's basketball team fought to erase a first-half deficit but came up short in a 74-66 loss at Bucknell on Saturday night. Senior Ramon Galloway had a game-high 21 points, including 14 in the second half, for the Explorers, who had a five-game winning streak snapped in the game.

Junior Tyreek Duren had 14 points and sophomore Jerrell Wright scored 10 points. Junior Tyrone Garland added nine in his Explorer debut after sitting out the fall after transferring from Virginia Tech.

For Bucknell, which improves to 9-1, Joe Willman had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Mike Muscala added 18 points and seven boards.

"We lost to a very good team," coach Dr. John Giannini told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We pressured them hard. But the pressure didn't bother them."

The Bison opened up a 20-8 lead midway through the first half and the lead expanded all the way to 15 with 2:16 to play. Garland's coast-to-coast layup with one second remaining pulled the Explorers within 12 at 41-29 at the half.

After a Muscala lay-up opened the second half, La Salle (6-2) went on a 9-0 run with five points coming from Galloway to make it 43-38 with 15:58 to play. The deficit got to three at 47-44, four minutes later, when Duren connected on a lay-up.

From that point on, the home team went on a 16-5 run to put the game out of reach. La Salle would cut it to single-digits on several occasions but would get no closer than eight points down the stretch.

The Blue and Gold shot a season low 38.7 percent from the field and made four three-pointers. La Salle committed six turnovers but was outrebounded 38-31.

Next up for the Explorers is a home match-up versus Iona on Thursday at 7 PM.
