PHILADELPHIA – La Salle will look to add to the nation's 10th longest home winning streak on Saturday when it hosts Saint Louis at 2 PM. The Explorers have won 14 straight at Gola Arena dating back to last season.
La Salle players and coaches will be wearing pink shoes in support of cancer awareness. Pink ribbons will be available to fans for a minimum $1 donation with proceeds going to For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, founded by La Salle graduate Marci Bossow Shankweiler '90.
In addition, La Salle will induct four members into its Hall of Athletes following the game in an induction ceremony at the ballroom of the Student Union. The inductees are Jenna Darcy '05 (cross country/track and field), Karo Isajan '07 (diving), Bob Moore '66 (swimming) and head coach Charles Torpey (cross country/track and field).
Scouting the Explorers (17-8, 6-4 A-10)
The Blue and Gold look to get back on the winning track after suffering two road losses to Saint Joseph's and Richmond. Gola Arena has been kind to LU this season as the hosts have won 12 games, setting a new facility record, and the 14 straight home wins is the second most behind 19 won by the 1968-70 squads.
Junior Ramon Galloway paces the Explorers in scoring at 15.1 ppg. He is fifth nationally in three-point percentage (.471) and also leads the A-10 in three-pointers per game.
Senior Earl Pettis (14.8 ppg.), sophomore Tyreek Duren (13.9 ppg.) and sophomore Sam Mills (11.6 ppg.) also reach double-figures for Dr. John Giannini's ballclub. Duren is also among the A-10's leaders in assists, steals and assist/turnover ratio.
La Salle has made 10.3 three-pointers per game over its last three contests and are shooting 49.2% during that span. The Explorers rank fifth nationally in three-point percentage at .416.
Scouting the Billikens (19-5, 7-3 A-10)
Saint Louis has won three straight and six of seven. The Billikens are tied for first at 7-3 in the Atlantic 10, one game ahead of La Salle.
Brian Conklin leads the team in scoring (14.8 ppg.) and is shooting .572 from the field. Kwamain Mitchell (11.8 ppg.) and Cody Ellis (10.9 ppg.) also average double-figures for head coach Rick Majerus.
Series History
Saint Louis leads the all-time series 7-6 and the last three meetings have been decided by a combined seven points. The first meeting was in the 1951 NIT at Madison Square Garden, a 73-61 SLU win. The teams also met at the Garden in the 1953 Holiday Festival.
