BRONX, N.Y. – The La Salle men's basketball team will hit the road for two of its final three regular season games beginning with Saturday's 1 PM start at Fordham. The contest will be broadcast on the YES Network.

Scouting the Explorers (18-10, 7-6 A-10)

The Explorers will look to bounce back from a tough 80-79 overtime loss on Wednesday to city rival Temple in which La Salle rallied from a nine-point deficit with 2:47 to play to tie the score in regulation. LU had two shots to win it at the buzzer in overtime but both shots were inches off the mark.

Senior Earl Pettis scored a career-high 33 points, including all 11 points during the late run that tied the game. It was the most points scored by an Explorer since Steven Smith had 41 points versus Central Connecticut State in December of 2005.

Pettis is quietly approaching the 1,000 point milestone and needs just 34 points to reach the mark. He leads the team in scoring at 15.3 ppg. and has hit 10-for-18 from three-point range in his last two contests. He's averaging 25.5 ppg. in his last two contests.

Junior Ramon Galloway (14.6 ppg.), sophomore Tyreek Duren (13.6 ppg.) and sophomore Sam Mills (11.3 ppg.) also reach double-figures for the Explorers.

When Jerrell Wright (9.5 ppg., 5.9 rpg.) plays 20 or more minutes, the Explorers are 11-3, including wins in 10 of their last 11. He averages 12.4 ppg. and and 8.1 rpg. in those 14 games. La Salle is 7-7 when he plays under 20 minutes

Scouting the Rams (9-17, 2-11 A-10)

Fordham has dropped six straight to fall to 9-17, 2-11 in the A-10 but is 8-5 at home with wins over George Tech and Harvard. Chris Gaston nearly averages a double-double with 16.6 ppg. and 9.8 rpg.

Branden Frazier (11.5 ppg.) and Bryan Smith (10.0 ppg.) also reach double-figures. Kervin Bristol pulls down 8.1 rpg. for a team that averages 37.8 rpg.
The Rams average just 62.0 ppg. and shoot .380 from the field. The game is a “White Out” for Fordham and will feature its Hall of Fame inductions.

Series Information

La Salle leads the all-time series 32-12 and has won four straight games. Dr. John Giannini and Tom Pecora coached against each other while the two were at Maine and Hofstra, respectively. La Salle has also won nine of the last 12 games. The teams met in the 1954 NCAA Tournament, with La Salle taking a 76-74 victory. Both schools were members of the MAAC, meeting 17 times between 1984-90.
