PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball squad cut an 11-point halftime deficit back to single digits early in the second half, but an 11-0 Temple run put the game out of reach in a 71-44 loss to the Owls in the regular season finale on Saturday at Tom Gola Arena.

Seniors Nadia Duncan and Michele McCaughern were honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony as both played in their final home game as Explorers.

Jordan Mosley led La Salle (13-16, 7-7 Atlantic 10) with 12 points and Michea Bryant added 10. Ruvanna Campbell added a team-best seven rebounds.

Four players hit double digits for Temple (20-8, 13-1 Atlantic 10), led by Tyonna Williams' 14 points off the bench. Shey Peddy added 12 while Victoria Macaulay and Rateska Brown chipped in 10 apiece. Kristen McCarthy led all players with nine rebounds.

Baskets were difficult to come by early in the game as Temple held just a 4-2 edge at the first media timeout before going on a 20-4 run to put the score at 24-6 with 5:02 until the half.

Bryant and Mosley then nailed back-to-back triples in a 6-0 spurt. The Owls pushed their lead back to 16 before another Mosley trey closed out the half with the score 31-18 in favor of Temple.

The Explorers cut the Owl lead to nine twice early in the second half, but the 11-0 run pushed the Owls back up by 20 and the Blue & Gold would not get closer the rest of the game.

Temple shot 50.9 percent for the game (28-55), with the Explorers limited to 26.3 percent (15-57), and the Owls outrebounded the Explorers 44-31. The Explorers won the turnover battle, however, committing 15 miscues to the Owls' 17.

The Explorers, who finished the Atlantic 10 season at 7-7, qualified for the 2012 Buick Atlantic 10 Championship. The tournament starts on Friday, March 2. Official tournament seedings, pairings and game times will be announced by the league office at the conclusion of games on Sunday.
