PHILADELPHIA – After picking up three goal medals at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships,
Blase Szyszko has been named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week.
The selection was made through voting by La Salle's sports information department.
Szyszko showed he is the conference's best breaststroker by winning both the 100-breast (56.30) and 200-breast (2:01.35).
In the 200-breast, he broke the school record that was set in 1990 by former Olympian Eric Buhain.
On the first day of the championships, Szyszko helped the 200-medley relay to a gold medal. It squad also broke a La Salle school record and made an NCAA “B” cut by swimming a 1:29.07.
The Explorers would place fourth in the conference at the meet.
