PHILADELPHIA – In a final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships later this month, the Explorers swimming & diving team fell to Penn and UMBC Saturday afternoon on the Penn campus.
La Salle had a strong showing in the diving competition, with sophomore
Shauna Hannings winning the 3-meter (253.70), followed by freshman
Dahlia Gordon in second (241.80) and classmate
Paige Frishkorn in third (239.10).
In the 1-meter competition, Gordon came out on top (221.65), while Hannings finished third (212.70).
Among the top performances in the pool, junior
Jessica Simunek won the 100-fly (57.50) and would go on to finish third in the 200-fly (2:07.22).
Also in the 100-fly, freshmen
Lianne McCluskey and
Amina Wilson took third (59.55) and fifth (1:00.64), respectively.
Freshman
Colleen Larkin posted a third-place finish in the 500-free (5:05.80).
Junior
Elizabeth Jordan clocked two fifth-place finishes in both the 100-breast (1:07.81) and 100-free (53.83).
Senior
Adriana Correa was also fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.09).
The women's 400-free relay took third (3:40.90).
La Salle will begin the tapering process in preparation for the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be held in Buffalo, N.Y. from February 22-25.
