RICHMOND, Va. – The La Salle men's basketball team will look to remain near the top of the Atlantic 10 standings on Wednesday with a road contest at Richmond. Tip-off is set for 7 PM.
Scouting the Explorers (17-7, 6-3 A-10)
The Explorers are coming off a 70-66 loss to rival Saint Joseph's at the Palestra on Saturday. Senior
Earl Pettis led the way with 17 points, while junior
Ramon Galloway had 14 points. Both players are nearing 900 career points with a chance to reach 1,000 in their collegiate careers before the end of the regular season.
Galloway remains the team's top scorer at 15.1 ppg. and currently ranks fifth nationally in three-point shooting at .470. He is second in the A-10 in that category and he leads the league in three-pointers per game at 2.6. As a team, the Explorers rank sixth in the NCAA in three-point shooting at .406.
Pettis has averaged nearly 18 ppg. over his last nine games and has raised his scoring average up to 15.0 ppg. Sophomore
Tyreek Duren has made 22 straight free throws and is among the league leaders in assists per game and assist/turnover ratio. He adds 13.9 ppg.
Sam Mills chips in with 11.4 ppg. and has made a three-pointer in 22 of his last 23 games. Freshman
D.J. Peterson has gained confidence during his rookie season and is shooting 10-for-13 (76.9%) from three-point range in Atlantic 10 play. He has also only committed one turnover in 2012.
Over its last three games, La Salle is shooting 82.4% from the charity stripe (47-for-57). La Salle is also 16-2 when scoring 70 points or more and 12-1 when allowing 69 points or less.
Scouting the Spiders (12-12, 3-6 A-10)
Richmond comes into Wednesday's game having lost three straight and five of six following an impressive 76-65 win over Temple on Jan 14. The Spiders have four players in double-figures, led by Kendall Anthony's 14.1 ppg.
Darien Brothers adds 14.0, followed by Cedrick Lindsay (12.1 ppg.) and Derrick Williams (10.4 ppg.). UR is 8-3 at the Robins Center this season.
Series History
Richmond leads the all-time series 13-12 but La Salle has won three of the last four at the Robins Center. Fourteen of the 25 meetings between the two schools have been as members of the Atlantic 10.

La Salle returns home to Gola Arena, where it has won 14 straight games, on Saturday to host Saint Louis at 2 PM. LU will induct Jenna Darcy, Karo Isajan, Bob Moore and Coach Charles Torpey into its Hall of Athletes following the game. The quartet will be recognized at halftime.
