Pat Christensen Named Philadelphia Big 5 Pitcher of the Week


PHILADELPHIA – La Salle junior closer Pat Christensen has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today in voting conducted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. 
 
Christensen threw a career-high 4.2 scoreless innings in a 12-inning, 2-1 victory at Fordham. He scattered three hits and struck out three while walking only one to earn the victory.
 
The junior came into the game in the eighth with one out and runners on first and third before inducing a double-play on a bunt attempt to end the inning.

He got out of a second and third, one-out jam in the tenth with a groundout and a strikeout and in the twelfth, with runners on first and second and one out, he recorded a strikeout and groundout to end the game.
 
Christensen is 4-2 with a  2.97 ERA this season with an A-10 leading eight saves. He has struck out 44 batters in 33.1 innings while walking six. The La Jolla, Calif. Native has had a hand in 12 of La Salle's 17 victories this season.

Villanova's Tyler Sciacca won the Big 5 Player of the Week.
