DOVER, Del. – La Salle got on the board first but Delaware State won their its eighth straight game with a 7-2 victory over the Explorers on Wednesday afternoon at Soldier Field. Senior
Marc Schoch and junior
Dan Klem each had two hits for the Blue and Gold.
Senior
Brendan Norton led off the game with a double and scored on a two-out RBI single by Klem. Schoch followed with a single but the visitors were unable to plate another run.
Camero Cecil had a solo home run in the bottom of the first to tie the game and the Hornets (26-14-1) added a run in the second on a sacrifice fly.
La Salle (17-23) answered in the top of the third with a run on freshman

Jeff Flax, who led off with a single.
DSU took advantage of four walks in the bottom of the frame to score three runs and take a 5-2 lead that it would not relinquish.
The hosts added an unearned run in the sixth and an earned run in the ninth to complete the scoring.
LU put runners on base in every inning, but only one advanced to second base.
Freshman
Mike McLeod threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. Junior
Shane Petrellis (0-4) suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs in 0.2 innings.
Cecil had three hits, including a single, double and home run, and drove in two for DSU. Ryan Haas had two hits.
Josh Patman (2-0) earned the win with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The Explorers return to Hank DeVincent Field for the first time since April 4 when they host Saint Louis in a three-game Atlantic 10 series beginning on Friday. The opener will also be video streamed through GoExplorers.com.
