PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's soccer team heads west to the Husky/Nike Invitation in Seattle, Wash. where they will face host Washington on Friday, August 31 and No. 20/23 Portland on Saturday, September 1. The Explorers are coming off 2-0 win over Iona during their home opener, and a 2-1 win at West Virginia in their season opener.
Scouting the Explorers
La Salle women's soccer is ranked No. 22 in this week's Soccer America National Poll and No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. This is the second consecutive week that the Explorers have earned the NSCAA Regional honor.
The Explorers have mounted a balanced attack so far this year with all four goals coming off the feet of four different attackers—juniors
Renee Washington,
Leigh Gray,
Jourdan McVicker and sophomore
Kelsey Haycook. Additionally, all three assists have come from different people—junior
Courtney Niemiec, sophomore
Maryam Huseini and Washington.

Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies are off to a 3-0 start, their best since 2008, after wins last weekend at Colgate and Syracuse. After trailing Syracuse 1-0 at the half, junior Stine Schoening scored the equalizer followed by freshman Isabel Farrell's game winner- her first collegiate goal.
Sophomore forward Chelsea Archer has scored two goals in the first three games for UW on the season.

Scouting the Pilots
Portland is No. 20 in this week's NSCAA poll and ranked 23rd by Soccer America. The Pilots are 29-4-1 all-time in the UW tournament, winning the title a year ago.
The Pilots are coming off a three-game home stretch in which they most recently defeated the Oregon Ducks, 2-0. Similar to the Explorers, Portland has only allowed one goal this season, a 1-0 loss to Oregon State.
Series History
The Explorers have never faced Portland or Washington and look to jump out to an early lead in the series.
