Men's Soccer Heads to Lehigh For Midweek Tilt

Scouting the Explorers

La Salle saw its three-game win streak snapped last Friday when Bucknell took a 2-1 decision and the Explorers followed up with a double-overtime 1-1 tie against Lafayette on Sunday. Nick Becker scored his first goal of the season against the Bison and Joe Farrell came up big against the Leopards when he scored the game-tying goal with just 34 seconds remaining in regulation.

Jason Plumhoff continues to lead the squad with seven points on three goals and one assist, and has had a hand in all three game winners this season. His seven points are currently tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10. Farrell now has six points on two goals and two assists, and has also had a hand in both goals that forced overtime (assist vs. Drexel, goal vs. Lafayette). Explorer keeper John McCarthy is recording a .848 save percentage.

Scouting the Mountain Hawks

Lehigh has had difficulty scoring this season and comes in looking for its first win. Three of the Mountain Hawks' four losses came by shutout, although two of those losses were tight 1-0 decisions including pushing Stony Brook to overtime. Wednesday's game also marks the first home game for Lehigh since its season opener against Hofstra on Aug. 25, and the first of four straight home contests.

Brian Suchoski has both goals for the Mountain Hawks this season, scoring twice in a 3-2 overtime loss to Saint Peter's.

Despite their record, the Mountain Hawks are eyeing a promising 2012 campaign with the return of 2011 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year Ciaran Nugent. They were also difficult to overcome in Bethlehem, going 5-0-3 last season at home.
