Kelly Scanlon Named La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Kelly Scanlon has been named La Salle 'Student-Athlete of the Week' for September 17.

The senior outside hitter has recorded 48 kills (.222) and 63 digs in La Salle's last three games, leading the blue and gold to a 2-1 record during that stretch. On the season, Scanlon leads the Explorers with 158 kills and ranks third on the team in digs with 151. She shares the team lead in double-doubles (7) as well.

"I started the season off a little slow offensively," Scanlon said. "So I really put a lot of focus on my defense and tried to contribute to the team in that manner. Once I got to play a few games as outside hitter, and got comfortable with the pace of the game and the new setters, I was able to really start playing well offensively too."

"I think that the team is coming together well," Scanlon noted. "We have a lot of new faces on the court and it has taken a little while for everyone to get comfortable with each other, but I think that we are really starting to trust each other and know one another's strengths and weaknesses."

"Collectively, our team goals are to
continually improve our game and ultimately make it to A-10 playoffs," she added.
