Scouting the Explorers

The Explorers are coming off of a hard-fought scoreless draw at UMBC on Tuesday night. Junior keeper John McCarthy recorded a season-best nine saves to help the squad overcome a 17-5 shot disadvantage and force the tie.

With a win on Saturday, the Explorers will wrap up the best nonconference season since the 1994 squad also won six out-of-league games. That squad went 11-8-0 overall after posting a 5-4-0 record in the MCC. This season already ties for the most nonconference wins since the Explorers joined the Atlantic 10, when the 1996 squad went 5-3-0.

Offensively, Jason Plumhoff and Joe Farrell lead the squad with eight points in three goals and two assists apiece. The duo have also contributed four of the team's five game-winning goals.

With the scoreless draw on Tuesday, McCarthy recorded his league-best fourth shutout of the season. He currently sports a 0.871 save percentage, also currently tops in the A-10.

Scouting the Peacocks

Saint Peter's looks to snap a five-game losing streak, the most recent a 2-1 setback at Temple. The Peacocks recorded a season-opening 3-1 win over Seton Hall, with their last win coming against Lehigh on Sept. 4.

Noah Sadaoui carries the offensive load for the Peacocks, accounting for seven of the team's 10 goals this season. Sadaoui has also attempted 49 shots while recording 14 points. Jacob Robertson is second on the team with two goals.

Carlos Suarez has seen all but 37 minutes in goal this season, with a 2.17 goals against average and 0.696 save percentage.

Next Up

The Explorers return home next Friday (10/5) for the Atlantic 10 opener against Fordham at 7 p.m. The program will be hosting an alumni reception during and after the game.
