La Salle edged Dayton, 72-70, behind a game-high 18 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3PT, 4-4 FT) from
Ramon Galloway, who added five assists and four steals as well.
Tyreek Duren dropped 14 points (5-12 FG, 1-2 3PT, 3-4 FT), and registered a season-high six steals. Duren notched his 1,000
th career point on a layup in the first half, becoming the 51
st Explorer to accomplish the feat.
Jerrell Wright anchored the Explorer frontcourt with 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds while
Tyrone Garland found double figures with 11 points (4-9 FG).
The Explorers shot 49 percent (27-55) from the field, 25 percent (3-12) from three, and 88 percent (15-17) from the free throw line. The Flyers shot 29 percent (25-51) from the field, 47 percent (7-15) from behind the arc, and 77 percent (13-17) from the charity stripe. La Salle turned the Flyers over 24 times and converted 26 points off turnovers.
Scouting the Musketeers
Xavier has won its first three games in the A-10, most recently toppling St. Bonaventure 66-64 on Wednesday evening. As a team, the Musketeers pride themselves on the defensive end, ranking second in three point field goal percentage defense (.302), third in scoring defense (60.6 ppg) and fourth in field goal percentage defense (.404).
Freshman guard Semaj Christon paces the Musketeers in scoring at 14.5 points/game while senior big man Travis Taylor adds 11.3 points/game while pulling down 7.8 rebounds/game, fourth-most in the conference.
The Musketeers were dropped 80-70 last season in Gola Arena. Galloway (16 pts), Duren (10 pts), and
Sam Mills (10) all reached double figures for the Explorers.
