WASHINGTON, D.C. – The La Salle men's soccer team capped off its regular season with a 1-0 victory over George Washington on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. The Explorers ended their regular season 8-7-3 (5-2-1 A-10) and will await their first round Atlantic 10 tournament draw.
Joe Farrell netted the game's only goal in the 16
th minute off a corner kick.
Jason Plumhoff struck the corner, which found the foot of
Nick Becker. Becker sent the ball into the box and Farrell finished the job.
John McCarthy (8 saves) and the Explorer defense shut out their second opponent in as many games, good for the team's fifth of the season. The defensive battle was a chippy one, as five yellow cards and a red card were handed out.
GW (5-10-2, 2-4-2 A-10) outshot the visitors 14-6 and held a 6-2 corner kick advantage.
