DAYTON, Ohio – The La Salle men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to the top-seeded Saint Louis Billikens in the Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinal on Friday evening at Baujan Field. The Explorers end their season 8-8-4.

Saint Louis (14-4-2) made the first move in the contest when David Graydon deposited a rebound in the back of the net. Robert Kristo and Kinsley Bryce were each credited with assists. The match remained 1-0 through halftime as the Billikens outshout the Blue and Gold 11-3 in the period.

The Billikens rode their momentum into the second half and capitalized on scoring opportunity in the 53rd minute. The Explorers possessed near midfield when Kevin Pink was slide tackled from behind, but no foul was called. David Graydon collected the loose ball and fed a thru-ball ahead to Bryce who slipped a low shot under John McCarthy's right hand.

Down 2-0, it took the Explorers only two minutes to return the favor. Joe Farrell was wrestled down a yard outside the box on the left side and the Billikens were called for the foul. Jason Plumhoff addressed the ball and struck a perfectly placed bender onto the head of Pat Sullivan on the far post to cut the Billiken lead in half. The goals was Sullivan's second of the season

The assist marked Plumhoff's 10th of the year, making him only the second Explorer in history to record more than 10 goals and assists in the same season. Cesidio Colasante did so in 1994.

La Salle, still down a score, applied a heavy foot to the gas the rest of the way but were unable to create a scoring opportunity. Plumhoff struck a corner kick with a minute and a half remaining but the Explorers were unable to get a clean look at the net.

McCarthy made six saves in goal, the second of which made him La Salle's all-time leader. He passed Stash Graham's 10-year old mark of 462, ending his career with 468. That ranks 18th in NCAA history.

For the game, Saint Louis outshot the Blue and Gold, 16-7 and held a 5-4 corner kick advantage. Billiken goalkeeper Nick Shackeldord made three saves.
