GENEVA, Oh. – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team swam at the Spire Institute on Saturday afternoon, home of the 2013-14 Atlantic 10 Championships, falling to St. Bonaventure 207-125. Freshman
Mattias Glenesk highlighted the day for the Blue and Gold, placing first in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:08.68) and 500-yard freestyle (4:38.10).
Johan Roth had a strong meet, winning the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.91), along with a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.61) and a fourth place time in the 200-yard IM (2:00.72).
Cameron Cabrera led the way for the Explorers in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:45.33, good for a third place finish.
Kip Gravel placed fourth with a 1:46.52.
Jerry Gravel came in second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.26, followed by a third place finish from
Justin Hughes (1:57.45). Hughes posted a 53.40 later on in the 100-yard backstroke, good for a second place time. He added another second place finish to his day in the 100-yard butterfly (51.81).
Jerry Gravel returned with a solid performance in the 200-yard IM with a second-place 1:56.88. His brother, Kip, registered a third place finish with a 2:00.43.
Jonathan Cabral was La Salle's first finisher in the 50-yard freestyle with a 22.25.
A pair of Explorer relays turned in second place finishes. Hughes, Cabrera, Roth, and K Gravel combined for a 3:15.19 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Earlier in the afternoon,
Dave Derr, Cabral, Cabrera, and
Sean McCall posted a 1:28.40 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
La Salle returns to action Saturday, November 9 at Kirk Pool in a tri-meet vs. Delaware and Rider at 10 AM.
