LEWISBURG, Pa. – The La Salle men's swimming and diving team placed third at the Bucknell Invitational behind 823.5 team points.
Mattias Glenesk highlighted the day for the Explorers by finishing first in the 1650-yard freestyle with a 15:35.02.
Stefan Sharpe put together an impressive swim in the event as well, coming in sixth with a 15:56.65.
Justin Hughes and
Jerry Gravel each registered top-10 finishes in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 1:51.84 and 1:53.05, respectively.
Dave Derr posted a 1:53.41.
Jonathan Cabral came in 14
th in the 100-yard freestyle with a 47.45.
Johan Roth placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:01.35, missing first place by only 26-hundredths of a second.
Strahinja Stankovic posted a 2:06.62, good for ninth place.
Taylor Jeronis (1:55.83) and
Greg Fischer (1:56.17) came in 11
th and 13
th, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.
Robert Freeling posted the top Explorer number on the 1-meter diving board with a 212.00, coming in 13
th.
Yale won the event with 1591.5 team points. Bucknell came in second with 1431.5.
The Explorers will compete at the USA Swimming Nationals from Dec. 5-7, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
