Scouting the Explorers
La Salle has toppled Rhode Island in each of the past two seasons. Last year, the Blue and Gold defeated the Rams 80-66 at Tom Gola Arena behind a game-high 21 points from Duren.
La Salle has not lost back-to-back games in 25 contests since dropping the last two of the 2011-12 season to Saint Louis (A-10) and Minnesota (NIT). It is the second longest active streak in the A-10 behind Butler (41 games).
Galloway enters the weekend as the A-10's second-leading scorer (17.3 ppg) but the guard has upped his assists/game average to 3.8 by tallying 37 helpers in his last six games (6.2 apg). The Explorers are 6-1 when the senior notches five or more assists.
Scouting the Rams
Rhode Island has won two of its last three after dropping its previous six in conference play. The Rams were downed by Xavier 55-42 on Wednesday night after beating Duquesne and Dayton in its previous two. As a team, the Rams rank fourth in the A-10 in blocked shots/game (4.3) and fifth in three point field goal percentage defense (.326). They also come in seventh in turnover margin (+0.28) and eighth in field goal percentage defense (.424).
Junior guard Xavier Munford is the conference's third leading scorer at 17.3 points/game. He also rates in the top 10 in minutes/game (35.4) and three point field goals/game (2.2).
