BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Nick Crits placed second in the one mile run at the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Saturday morning, clocking a 4:04.32, good for a PR. The senior finished only 25-hundredths of a second behind the first place runner. Crits bested his previous PR of 4:05.59, set at the Columbia Last Chance Meet a season ago.

"My expectation for this meet was go for a sub-four minute mile," Crits said. "I'm in the best shape of my life and I am ready to run a sub four mile now. The race did not go out fast enough, so I ended up racing the way the race played out.

"I felt that I performed well. It would have been nice to get the win, but I'm out here because I love to compete against other runners from around the nation and to get stronger and faster."

"He [Crits] ran very well," head coach Dan Ireland said. "He set a PR but the race was too slow in the first 800 meters for him to have taken a shot at breaking 4:00."

The Explorers will travel to Kingston, R.I. next weekend for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Rhode Island. Look for a full preview on GoExplorers.com sometime this week.
