LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The La Salle baseball team mounted a 9-1 lead after two innings, but New Mexico State chipped all the way back to a 12-11 victory in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon at Presley Askew Field. Joey Ravert went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored while George Smith, Jr. notched a 2-for-6 day with three runs scored and two RBI.

The Blue and Gold jumped all over Aggie starter Timothy Torsney, who gave up seven runs (4 earned) in 1.1 innings. The Explorers tallied three runs in the first and six more in the second to build a 9-1 lead.

New Mexico State's offense was up for the occasion, adding runs every inning and ultimately tying the ballgame at 11 apiece in the bottom half of the seventh.

The Aggies (8-8) struck again in the bottom of the 10th, pushing a run across to seal a 12-11 win. La Salle freshman Luke Reilly (0-1) took the loss after entering the inning in relief.

Kevin Baron (1-3, 3 BB) safely reached base four times and scored twice for the Explorers and returns north sporting a team-best .419 batting average for the season. Justin Korenblatt (1-4) also touched home twice for La Salle.

Pat Christensen made his second start of the year on the mound and gave up five earned runs in 3.1 innings. Mike McLeod (1.2 IP, 1 ER) relieved the starter and was the first of six Explorer relievers to toe the slab.

Austin Clark (1.2 IP, 0 ER), Shawn O'Neill (.1 IP, 0 ER), and Adam Cherry (1.1 IP, 0 ER) each posted scoreless outings in relief. Cherry's season ERA remains unblemished in five appearances (6.2 IP).

La Salle (2-11) heads home following the nine game spring break road trip and will play on its home turf for the first time this season on Friday at 3 PM vs. Wagner.
