PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team will get its first taste of home action this weekend when Wagner, Chicago State, and Marist visit Hank DeVincent Field. The weekend will mark the first three games of a seven game Explorer home stand after opening their season with 13 games away from 20th & Olney.

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle has dropped its last eight after defeating Texas Tech 6-5 in the series opener over spring break. The Explorers enter the weekend with a .256/.339/.305 team slash line and have pushed across 52 runs over 13 games (4.0/game). The Blue and Gold pitching staff saw its team ERA climb to 8.92 after surrendering 90 runs in the spring break swing across the southwest.
Sophomore Kevin Baron continues to swing a hot stick for the Explorers, hitting .419 with a team lead in total bases (19) and hits (18). Senior Dan Klem is hitting .355 on the season and has notched four multi-hit games in his last five. Sophomore Kevin Conroy comes in hitting .353 with a team-best .500 slugging percentage. Sophomore Justin Korenblatt and freshman Joey Ravert are both hitting .306 to round out the list of .300 hitters for the Explorers.
The La Salle pitching staff has been highlighted by sophomore Adam Cherry's performance thus far, posting 6.2 scoreless innings in five appearances. He is one of only eight Atlantic 10 pitchers with an unblemished ERA. Senior Pat Christensen (1-1, 7.30 ERA) has had a hand in both La Salle wins this year, picking up a win vs. Texas Tech and a save in the season opening victory over Toledo.
Scouting the Seahawks
Wagner won its season opener over Villanova and has lost nine of 10 coming into Friday. As a team, the Seahawks are slashing .212/.290/.261 and have registered an 8.76 team ERA.
Junior Chris Smith is the lone Seahawk to amass a .300 clip this season, hitting .303 with a team-high 8 RBI. Senior Nick Alfano is hitting .290 and has also worked off the mound in relief for Wagner. Freshman pitcher Paul Mammino was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after earning a win vs. Norfolk State (6.2 IP, 1 ER). Mammino has compiled a 2.30 ERA in 15.2 innings this season.
Scouting the Cougars
Chicago State has dropped 12 of its 13 this season, with its lone victory coming on March 3 over Muskingum. The Cougars are slashing .215/.310/.271 and have accumulated an 8.14 team ERA.
Sophomore Mattingly Romanin was named the Great West Conference Player of the Week on Monday and is hitting .400 on the season with a team-high 15 RBI. Junior Jake Peltz leads the club in hitting (.458) and has posted a .618 on base percentage.
Scouting the Red Foxes
Marist has lost three in a row, most recently falling 9-3 at Maryland on Tuesday. The Red Foxes have posted a .275/.356/.364 slash line through 11 games and have six hitters hitting over .300. The pitching staff has tallied a 5.40 ERA with a .304 opposing batting average.
Matt Pagano (.389), Zach Shank (.383), and Mike Orefice (.381) have provided the bulk of the punch in the Red Fox offense, accounting for 26 runs and 31 RBI.
