Richmond Dispatches La Salle In Series Finale

PHILADELPHIA - The Spiders scored early and often on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field, posting a nine run second inning en route to a 22-1 defeat of the Explorers. Richmond improved to 17-9 (3-3 A-10) with the victory and La Salle slipped to 8-15 (4-2 A-10).

The Explorers pushed across their lone run in the third when sophomore Justin Korenblatt (0-3, RBI) knocked home sophomore Kevin Baron from third on an RBI groundout. Baron finished the day 2-for-3 while senior Dan Klem busted out of an 0-for-13 spell with a 2-for-3 day at the dish as well.

Junior Shawn O'Neill made the start for La Salle and was roughed up for six earned runs in one-plus inning pitched. 10 Explorers in all toed the slab on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue and Gold will play again on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 PM, when they travel to Lafayette in Liberty Bell Classic action.
