Stanford, Calif. - Alfredo Santana obliterated his previous PR in the 5000m, clocking a 14:07.42 on Friday evening at the Stanford Invitational. The senior crossed the finish line 20th (27-runner field) in a field that included some of the premiere distance runners in the country. Santana's previous outdoor high water mark in the 5000m was 14:24.30, set at the IC4A Outdoor Championships last spring.
Nick Crits ran in a separate 5000m heat for the Explorers, and posted a DNF.
The Blue and Gold will run again next weekend. Some Explorers will compete at the Sam Howell Princeton Invitational and others will travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the Colonial Relays.
