Men's Basketball Celebrates Senior Day On Wednesday; Hosts George Washington at 7 PM


PHILADELPHIA – Winners of two straight and 26 of 31 at Tom Gola Arena, the La Salle men's basketball team will host George Washington in its final home game of the season. A senior day ceremony will recognize Ramon Galloway and Garvin Hunt pre-game.

Last Time Out
La Salle exploded for 50 points in the first half and kept its foot on the gas in a 97-64 win over Duquesne on Saturday afternoon. Galloway led all scorers with 23 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3PT, 4-4 FT) and added six assists. He was joined in double figures by Tyrone Garland (20 pts), Tyreek Duren (16 pts), Jerrell Wright (16 pts), and Sam Mills (10 pts). The Explorers shot 52 percent (34-66) from the field, 42 percent (10-24) from three, and 76 percent (19-25) from the charity stripe in the contest.

All-Time Series
The Colonials hold a 19-14 all-time series edge, but the Explorers have won the last three meetings. Most recently, the Blue and Gold took down George Washington 80-71 on February 2 in the nation's capital. D.J. Peterson and Galloway both scored 15 points and the Explorers converted 17 of 19 (90 percent) of their free throws on the day.

Scouting the Explorers
With a 10-4 conference mark, the Blue and Gold currently have sole possession of third place in the Atlantic 10 standings. The top four teams will receive a first-round by in next weekend's conference tournament.

The Explorers continue to make their living shooting and defending the three point basket. As a team, La Salle ranks fourth in the A-10 three point field goal percentage (.373) and first in three point field goal percentage defense (.304, 32nd nationally). The Blue and Gold have posted an 11-1 record this season when making at least nine triples.

Protecting the basketball has a been a staple for this group all year long, ranking third in the A-10 in assist/turnover ratio (1.3) and turnover margin (+3.19). Both of those figures rank in the top-35 nationally. The Explorers are 5-2 this season in games when turning the ball over less than 10 times.

Wright has put together terrific back-to-back outings, posting 28 points and 23 rebounds in his last two. On Saturday, the sophomore posted a 16 points/8 rebound line in only 16 minutes of action. Peterson dished out a career-high six assists in the win over Duquesne and has knocked down a three point bucket in each of his last six games.

Injury Update
Sophomore Steve Zack is out the next two games (GW, Saint Louis) with a sprained left foot and will be re-evaluated on Monday, March 11. 

Scouting the Colonials
The slumping Colonials have dropped three straight and five of six as they continue to battle for a spot in the A-10 playoffs. They made a valiant effort at home on Saturday, dropping a 66-58 decision to Saint Louis, which has won 11 straight in the conference.

George Washington boasts one of the conference's strongest frontcourts led by Isaiah Armwood. The senior averages 11.6 points/game while sharing the A-10 lead in rebounds/game (8.6). He also comes in at 2.4 blocks/game, the second-highest tally in the conference. Armwood posted 17 points, nine boards, and three blocks against the Explorers earlier this season.

The Colonials have six players that average at least 6.9 points/game and four players with double-digit blocks. As a team, they rank second in the A-10 in blocks/game (5.1, 24th nationally). They also outrebound their opponents by an average of 4.4 per game, ranking third in the conference in rebounding margin.
