PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The women's novice eight advanced to the semifinal to lead the La Salle rowing team at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River this weekend.

The novice eight finished third in its heat with a time of 7:37.76 to advance to the semifinal, where the Explorers finished sixth. In the semi, the boat clocked a 7:41.96. Wisconsin won the semi in 7:04.90.

The varsity eight was also in action, finishing fifth in its heat with a time of 7:14.36. Northeastern won in 6:44.90.

The second varsity eight also competed this weekend, finishing sixth in its heat with a time of 7:47.40. Boston College won in 7:03.10, followed by Alabama, North Carolina, Rutgers and George Mason.

The Explorers return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River.
