PHILADELPHIA – Senior swimmer
Blase Szyszko has been named to the Swimming and Diving Academic All-Area Team, announced today by the Philadelphia Inquirer. This marks the second consecutive year Szyszko has been named to the team.
Szyszko ended his distinguished swimming career with an eighth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke at the Atlantic 10 Championships (2/20-23/13) after posting a season-best 2:03.66 in the morning preliminaries. He added a 12th place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, touching in 57.03. At last year's championships, Szyszko took home the gold medal in the 200 breast in a school record time of 2:01.35 in addition to winning the 100 yard breast in 56.30. At the Bucknell Invitational (11/16-18/12), Szyszko clocked a 56.86 in the 100 breast to place second overall.
Szyszko is well-accomplished outside the pool, as well. He has served as the president of SAAC for his junior and senior years and was selected to be the Atlantic 10's SAAC representative to the NCAA.
